Jah Tree of Life plc. was originally established
through the inspiration and powers of Jah Ras Tafari
in the early 1990’s as a family company by Max (Ras
Ibi) & sis. Elsa Ohvanainen. The fields of activity
includes; textile design and production, music works,
natural medicine, wood works, therapy chair
production, and publishing. Jah Tree of Life Plc. was
registered in 2005 (1997 E.C.) in Ethiopia.

Jah Tree of Life plc. produces and market hand-made
mattresses and beddings from 100% Ethiopian cotton.
Our product line today includes; mattresses, quilts,
pillows, sheets, curtains, bags, hats, clothes, and
rugs. The pure cotton filling in our product line has
gone through a vacuum cleaning process to minimize
dust.

We make use of traditional Ethiopian techniques and
materials like handspun cotton, hand-woven fabrics in
combination with machine woven fabrics to create our
unique designs.

In Addis Ababa and Shashemane where our production is
centered there is a great need for training and
employment. In fulfilling our part we also try to
create work opportunities for those that have harder
to access the labor market; housewives, less educated,
disabled, etc. and thereby giving them a chance to
provide for their families. We are also offering our
employees flexibility to combine work with studies,
etc.
